Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Protein Scientist with strong background in bacterial expression system to join our Protein Sciences team. In this role, you will play a critical part in leading our protein production efforts by generating high-quality proteins to support downstream in vitro and in vivo experiments. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment and contribute directly to shaping Evercrisp’s scientific advancements. This is a bench scientist position.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead expression and purification of recombinant proteins at small and large scale to support preclinical development of therapeutic proteins.
- Establish streamlined workflows for recombinant protein expression, purification, and characterization to ensure quality and suitability for downstream applications.
- Perform protein production and quality assessment of purified recombinant proteins using various analytical methods (SDS-PAGE, SEC, endotoxin measurements, etc).
- Troubleshoot and resolve challenges in protein purification and characterization processes.
- Collaborate closely with Discovery, Biology, and Chemistry functional teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials.
- Present results and progress updates to senior leadership team.
- Document experiments comprehensively and accurately in an electronic lab notebook (ELN).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biophysics, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field with minimum of 10 years of industry experience in Protein Sciences, or Ph.D. with +5 years of industry experience in Protein Sciences using bacterial expression host
- Extensive hands-on experience in various chromatography methods including affinity capture, ion-exchange, size exclusion, hydrophobic interaction chromatography methods
- Expertise in using AKTA or Bio-Rad NGC FPLC systems
- Excellent track record of delivering high quality proteins for drug discovery and development programs
- Successful experience in refolding inclusion body proteins
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with creative ideas
- Previous experience in supervising direct report(s)
